Facebook Payment Program Privacy Notice
In the Privacy Notice, ‘KPMG’, ‘We’, ‘Our, ‘Us’ means KPMG Australia.
KPMG is providing this privacy notice (Notice) as Administrator of the Facebook Payment Program established under Meta’s Enforceable Undertaking with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (Payment Program). To perform our role as Administrator, we will collect Personal Information from claimants, their representatives or guardians (where applicable) and members of the public who submit an inquiry to us. This Notice explains how we collect and manage your Personal Information.
Why do we collect your Personal Information?
We collect your Personal Information (including Sensitive Information if you provide it to us) so we can:
- identify you
- assess your eligibility to participate in the Payment Program
- assess your authority to represent a claimant (if applicable)
- process claims and assess any claims for specific loss or damage
- payments in accordance with the Enforceable Undertaking
- respond to your queries, requests and any complaints.
What happens if you don’t give us your Personal Information?
If you choose not to provide us with some or all of the Information we have requested, we may not be able to assess your eligibility to participate in the Payment Program, or your claim for specific loss or damage or respond to your queries.
How do we collect your Personal Information?
We do this through this online portal and through Information provided by Meta. If Meta has identified that your Facebook account is eligible to participate in the Payment Program and has issued you a token, Meta will provide us a copy of that token so we can identify you.
If you provide us Personal Information about another person you must only do so if you are authorised and agree to make them aware of this Notice.
Who do we disclose your Personal Information to?
We will share your Personal Information with:
- other KPMG related entities who help us verify your identity and assess your claim
- other service providers who provide the technology we use to provide the portal, support the process, and document and assess claims
- our lawyers and other professional advisers
- other parties where permitted or required by law.
We will not usually share your Personal Information with Meta or its legal representatives. However, there may be limited occasions when we need to do so to administer claims in accordance with the Enforceable Undertaking. We will also include de-identified and aggregated data in our reports to Meta about the claims made and outcomes.
Some of the third parties we disclose your Personal Information to are located overseas in India.
